drop/add [13 Sep 2009|02:51pm]

i'm trying to decide if i should continue on with my logic course or not. i just received my first invoice and haven't paid anything on it. will they charge me for this class (or 50%, since this is still the timeframe in which they can refund)? i guess that's my deciding factor. if they make me pay for it, i'll tough it out but if i not, this class just isn't for me.

Getting from Nursing building to SL/IT [25 May 2009|02:31pm]

This fall I'm registered for a Spanish class that's in the Nursing building (which I've never had a class in), as well as two other classes directly after that are in SL and IT, respectively. I have 15 minutes between each class. I'm also currently pregnant, due in less than a month. I'm a little worried about how much time it will take me to get from one building to another, where I should park, and if I should change my schedule around?
Since I've never had kids, I have no idea how exhausted I'll be (classes begin two months after my due date) and if I should rearrange the course schedule, take classes farther apart, or allow time to maybe take a shuttle or something?

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

Dr Johnny Flynn - Comments Needed [31 Jan 2009|03:28pm]

I'm writing for the SLA News Bureau this semester and interviewed Dr. Flynn from the Dept. of Religious Studies/Native American Studies. I was looking for a few remarks/comments from people who may have taken a course with him in the past. What was he like? What did you do? Were you pleased with his performance as an instructor? How did he strike you? The profile will be published on the SLA Web site, and maybe in a school magazine or Indiana Insight.
Thank you!

H106 [03 Aug 2008|01:06am]
Has anyone here had a history class with Barrows? I just signed up for it the other day because the other class I was going to take was canceled. It has 71/100 spots open, unlike the rest of the H106 classes, so I'm wondering whether or not this is reflective of his teaching?

If so, I might replace him with Buelow, who also requires fewer books (4 instead of 6), which would be really nice. It would just mean a HUGE break between my classes on Mondays (3 hours and 15 minutes). Any suggestions on how to fill that time if I end up replacing the class? (And if anyone's had him, opinions?)

oh hai. let me put on my [her]story hat [06 Apr 2008|10:10pm]

[ mood | sleepy ]

Hey all,
I was wondering if any of you have taken any courses with any iupui profs who teach

I want to take one of these history classes this fall and the prof reviews online aren't helping me much. I'm okay with doing a bit of reading (i mean how can you get out of it in a history class?). However, buying (and reading) 7-10 books is out of the question for a 100 lvl class. I'd rather have one textbook to rely on, a few supplementary articles uploaded online, and maybe another book. i would rather write essays that go over a few concepts/themes rather than do BUSY work that only shows you read something. I'd rather spend more time on something that really interests me rather than regurgitating what i've read in summary format ::yawn:: I'm so over 100 lvl classes with "busy work".

on myspace many of the 108/109/113/114 history profs have been called arrogant [subjective thing yeah] but it's more important to me that a prof is helpful, accessible, approachable, and communicates very well with students. I'd be able to tell in a first meeting whether i can stomach the arrogance iff the other attributes compensate enough for the arrogance:P Dude, it's more important i'm not dealing with a DRY monotone sounding or *anal person! i can deal with boring as long as it's not dry and monotone:P

I really like flexible teachers who, for the most part, actually follow the syllabus. i can, however, tolerate a few deviations from the syllabus as long as the changes are communicated clearly and in a timely fashion. ...Extra points for teachers who actually use oncourse- in my experiences those who bother to communicate tend to push their students to succeed more...

here's my general impressions without having met them:
Lindseth, Erik history ?
Saak, Eric ?
Mason, Thomas Alexander ?
Robbins K -softens up over time
xang- a lot of fun
kelly-dont take like because it's a lot of work like a 300+ lvl class
cramer-harvard grad, intense/informative, but boring

thanks anyone in advance!

Fall 2008 Course Schedules Are Up [12 Feb 2008|03:13pm]

It's erroneously labeled as Fall Term 2007 (4088), but it is definitely Fall 2008, as the dates attest.

So, if you're like me and need to juggle work hours and school hours, you can get an idea of your ideal class schedule starting now.

I doubt all classes are included and more will be added per discretion of the School and University, but it's a good headstart!

Fall Term 2008 (4088)

And don't forget the summer sessions!
First Summer Term 2008 (4085)
Second Summer Term 2008 (4085)

Enjoy, lads and lassies!

Be careful out there!

Has anyone taken INFO-I202 with Barbara Hayes?
I just checked my syllabus and I have to say, I'm intimidated.

How did the class go for you?
Am I just spazzing for no reason?

Mix of things [02 Jan 2008|07:44am]
1.) What do I do if my professor STILL hasn't sent in my grade? I have ALL of my other classes graded on OneStart, but the only reason I know my grade in this class is because I manually calculated it in OnCourse. I know no one else in the class has received their grades yet, either (a few messages were sent around on OnCourse about it).

2.) How do I go about receiving credit for the foreign language classes underneath the one I tested into? (I got an A in the class last semester, so there shouldn't be any question about receiving credit for the classes below it)

3.) Why the shuttle route changes? It's kind of annoying that they decided to combine two of the off-campus stops (the IT building and the SL/LD building stops) into one. Longer walk to the IT building during the winter = ugh

Is Anyone Else Getting Errors When Trying to View Their Grades on Onestart? [19 Dec 2007|09:12am]

It's been doing this for a few days with me? I go to hit 'grades' and it says there's an error processing my request. Is anyone else having similar issues?

Summer 2008 Class Availability Is Up! [06 Dec 2007|07:40am]

For those who are like me, you like to think about your Spring and Summer classes at the same time. Sometimes, especially when you're starting to get into your 300- and 400-level classes, if you take a particular class depends on when it'll be offered again, and sometimes Schools alternate between semesters or years for when they'll offer it. Miss that 300-level Communications class and it might not offered again for 3 semesters.

Well, lucky for us, the Summer 08 classes are up.

There are two ways to look at it:

Onestart >> Registration & Classes >> Class Schedule: Active

IUPUI's Registration Webpage >> Schedule of Classes (the first link)

Because of some scheduling availability over the summer, I've already changed a couple of my classes in the Spring to make it a tad easier for me.

Good luck, everyone!

hay guys... [05 Nov 2007|01:12pm]

I posted like three months ago about this, and here I go again:

I'm looking to get a body piercing done, and several people recommended Artistic Skin Designs (I despise Broad Ripple and want to avoid Metamorphosis if I can).

Is the one at 4955 W. Washingtion St. (just east of Lynhurst) good? They told me it would be $60 total with internally threaded circular barbells, which is $25 less than the Artistic at 10th & Arlington, and $40 less than Metamorphosis.

I'm not trying to be a cheapskate, but $60 is obviously better if I still know it's going to be done correctly, professionaly, and safely.

Thanks again.

C105/106 Textbook for sale [22 Oct 2007|05:40pm]

I have a C105/106 textbook for sale. It is the required Fourth Edition Chemistry: The molecular Nature of Matter & Change by Silberberg.

It is in like new condition. There are a few scratches on the cover, but there are absolutely NO MARKS on the inside.

If you are interested in buying this, please contact me at thaimaishuus at livejournal dot com, or if you know anyone that is interested in purchasing this.

I will sell it for less than the used price at Indy's College Bookstore, where I purchased it as a replacement for my momentarily missing text.
